Study in Netherlands from Vietnam
Studying in the Netherlands from Vietnam means almost entirely English-taught programmes, a streamlined MVV visa through your university, and a one-year Orientation Year to stay on afterwards.
Dutch universities are unusual in that they apply for your residence permit on your behalf as a recognised sponsor, so a student moving from Ho Chi Minh City deals mostly with the institution rather than queuing repeatedly at an embassy. With around 95% of master's programmes taught in English, language is rarely the barrier it can be elsewhere in Europe.
Tuition of β¬6,000ββ¬15,000 a year is higher than in Eastern Europe, but the trade-off is fast processing and a clear post-study pathway through research-led universities like TU Delft and Wageningen.
Document preparation and the IND sponsor route from Vietnam
Apply to Dutch institutions through Studielink or the university portal, and have your MOET-issued certificates legalised and translated for credential evaluation. Because the university acts as your IND sponsor, the MVV that you collect at the Dutch Embassy in Hanoi is the final step rather than the first, but you should still prepare consular legalisation of your diplomas well in advance of the intake.
Costs, scholarships, visa timeline and the Orientation Year
Budget β¬900ββ¬1,400 a month for living costs and show around β¬11,000 in available funds for the IND. The MVV student visa is generally decided in 4β8 weeks once your sponsor university submits the file. Vietnamese students can target the Holland Scholarship, the Orange Knowledge Programme or Erasmus Mundus, and after finishing you may apply for the one-year Orientation Year (zoekjaar) to find graduate work.
