Study Computer Science & IT abroad π»
Computer science and IT graduates enjoy some of the strongest post-study job markets in the world, and Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, South Korea, and Japan each turn that demand into a clear pathway.
Computer science and IT are the fields where post-study employability is highest and most predictable, because skills shortages in software, data, and cybersecurity span every developed economy. For Asian students, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, South Korea, and Japan stand out by combining strong programmes with labour markets that actively absorb international graduates.
Because the field is largely unregulated, there is no licence to chase, which means the decision turns almost entirely on cost, programme quality, and the work pathway after graduation. That simplicity is liberating, but it also makes the choice of destination the most important decision a CS applicant makes.
Germany and the Netherlands: low cost, high demand
Germany is hard to beat on value: public universities charge no tuition beyond a semester fee, computer-science programmes at institutions such as TU Munich are internationally respected, and the eighteen-month post-study job-seeker visa opens onto one of Europeβs strongest tech labour markets. Applicants from India and Vietnam need the APS certificate before applying, which we prepare students for as a routine step.
The Netherlands offers a deep catalogue of English-taught computing programmes, strong industry links, and a one-year Orientation Year permit. With most masterβs programmes taught in English and institutions like TU Delft and Eindhoven leading in technology, it is a natural choice for students who want an English-speaking European base.
Canada, Korea, and Japan
Canada is the standout for students prioritising long-term settlement, pairing strong programmes at universities such as Waterloo and Toronto with a Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to three years and Express Entry routes that favour tech skills. It is the most direct study-to-residency pathway among the major IT destinations.
South Korea and Japan reward students drawn to advanced technology industries, and their fully funded government scholarships, the Global Korea Scholarship and MEXT respectively, can cover tuition and living costs entirely. Both are expanding English-taught computing programmes at institutions such as KAIST and the University of Tokyo, with clear routes into their domestic tech sectors afterwards.
Building an employable profile
Because IT recruitment is portfolio-driven, the degree is only part of the story. Students who graduate with internships, open-source contributions, and demonstrable projects consistently convert their post-study work permits into jobs faster than those relying on grades alone. We encourage applicants to treat the work-permit window as the real objective and to build evidence of practical skill throughout their studies. Our guidance on choosing and applying to these programmes is free for the student.
