Study in France from Asia 🇫🇷

France combines symbolic public tuition with the global prestige of its Grandes Écoles, but for most Asian students the journey begins with one compulsory step: the Campus France procedure.

Post-study work

Public universities in France charge strikingly low tuition, often between one hundred seventy and four thousand euros a year, a figure that surprises students used to North American price tags. Private schools and specialised programmes cost more, between five and fifteen thousand euros, but the public system makes a French degree genuinely accessible to students from Vietnam, the Philippines, India and Indonesia.

Beyond cost, France offers the Grandes Écoles, a tier of highly selective institutions in engineering and business such as École Polytechnique and HEC Paris, alongside historic universities like the Sorbonne and Sciences Po. The country is also a global centre for fashion, culinary arts and hospitality, fields where its programmes carry particular weight.

The mandatory Campus France procedure

For most Asian nationalities, including the Philippines, India, Vietnam and Indonesia, the Campus France procedure is compulsory before you can apply for a visa. You create a Campus France account, build an academic file, and attend an interview at which your study plan and motivation are assessed; only once this is complete does the consulate process your visa.

Treat Campus France as the real first deadline. The interview rewards a coherent, well-argued study project, so prepare to explain why your chosen programme fits your background and goals.

The VLS-TS student visa and proof of funds

Study is authorised through the VLS-TS Étudiant, the long-stay visa that doubles as a residence permit once validated in France. You will need to show around six hundred fifteen euros a month in available funds, and processing typically takes six to ten weeks after the Campus France stage, so plan the two steps as one continuous timeline.

Scholarships and post-study work

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship is France's flagship award for outstanding international master's and doctoral candidates, complemented by Campus France grants and Erasmus Mundus. After graduation, the APS, the Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour, gives you up to a year to find work or launch a project in France.
